Certified Back-flow Device Testing

Backflow

Back-flow prevention devices prevent the flowing back of water from your irrigation system into the building or city water supply.  This can pollute or contaminate the water in that system creating a health hazard.

Saskatoon requires that all testable back-flow prevention devices be tested annually to ensure proper operation and a report be sent to the city.

At Chris Irrigation Inc. we have certified technicians that can officially test all irrigation back-flow prevention devices to ensure they are working properly and send the necessary reports to both the city and the client.

Fall Winterization and Blowout

.

.

.

Preparing your system for our harsh Saskatoon winters is essential to prevent the freezing temperatures from damaging your underground sprinkler system.

The Fall Blowout and Winterization offered through Chris Irrigation includes turning off the water at the irrigation system water source, setting your controller to a rest position, using a large commercial air compressor to purge water from the irrigation lines, valves and sprinkler heads, as well as draining any outdoor back-flow devices.

It is important to have this process done early enough in the year because it only takes a few degrees of cold weather to shatter your system.

Also, be aware that small, personal air compressors do not have the volume of air needed to properly blow out your system. So while blowing out your own system may seem like a good idea at the time, valves can still be left with some water in them, breaking one of the more expensive parts of your irrigation system.  For peace of mind and warranty assurance, call the professionals at Chris Irrigation!

Spring Startup

.

.

After a long, cold winter you will need to get your irrigation system up and running once again.  With our Spring Start-Up scheduled, one of our friendly and knowledgeable technicians will come to your property to inspect all aspects of your underground sprinkler system and get it up and running again for the new season.

Our custom Spring Start-up includes re-charging your system water, programming your controller, checking for leaks and damage, checking and adjusting each and every one of your sprinkler heads and zones, checking your automatic rain sensor, as well as making preliminary adjustments to your system based on plant growth or changes in your landscaping.

With your system fully inspected and running, you can be sure that your yard will be fully covered while minimizing any water wasted by hitting sidewalks and driveways.  From this assessment, our technicians can also recommend to you any suggested sprinkler conversions and upgrades so you can begin saving money and water as soon as possible.

Maintenance and Repairs

Maintaining your irrigation system is one of the most effective ways to reduce water waste and ensure the optimal health of your home or business’ lawn and landscape.  At minimum, systems should be serviced twice a season, and inspected twice a season.  Further, if a problem is noticed or a repair is needed, it is best to have your system serviced as soon as possible before other components of your system are collaterally damaged.

Our experienced residential and commercial service technicians here at Chris Irrigation can service and repair all types and brands of irrigation systems, whether installed by us or another contractor. We can also update your system if you have made changes to your property or landscaping. From leaking valves to adding new zones to installing a new timer, our experienced team can address almost any issues concerning both residential and commercial irrigation systems.

Look to us for help in these areas:

  • Mid-Season checks and adjustments
  • Component repair or replacement
  • System efficiency inspections
  • System reconfigurations and additions to ensure  proper coverage
  • Large renovations to existing systems
  • Fixing damaged or malfunctioning pipe, valves or sprinkler heads
  • Relocating sprinkler heads
  • Upgrading components (such as controllers, sprinkler heads and weather sensors) to today’s water efficient technologies to save both water and money

Trouble Shooting

Underground irrigation systems are intricate and complex, and sometimes the system stops working properly without any clear indication as to why. That is where the over 25 years of experience and expertise of our technicians here at Chris Irrigation becomes indispensable. Also, a number of difficult issues manifest themselves in difficult-to-diagnose ways that would typically require significant digging or mass rewiring, which increase the impact on your landscape and increase costs. That is why CII has significantly invested in specialized detection tools that allow us to locate and fix the problem much quicker and with less disruption.

When a text book can’t answer your questions and lesser-experienced companies have packed up and left, our team will utilize our arsenal of specialized troubleshooting equipment along with our wealth of practical experience to fix even the most perplexing issues.

Rain-Sensor Installation

Rain and rain/freeze sensors are becoming “must have” components for irrigation systems these days. A Rain Sensor automatically shuts off your sprinkler system when it rains, so you don’t have to worry about over-watering and wasting money or encountering runoff issues whether you’re home or away. Also, with the freeze protection function, the sensor will ensure watering doesn’t occur when the temperature drops to a point at which damage can occur either to your underground sprinkler system or your landscape.

Our irrigation technicians are skilled, knowledgeable and able to assist you in choosing the right option for your unique system as well as professionally and expertly installing the sensors in a way in which you will barely notice that it is there.

System Automation

Automated irrigation systems are the most efficient, cost effective and worry-free way to ensure that your lawn and your landscape are receiving the care they require and that your irrigation system is being utilized to its full potential.  Our automated systems are designed specifically for you in order to maximize efficient water use so that no over-watering or under-watering occurs, ultimately saving you money while protecting the environment and providing you with a beautiful lawn.

A well designed, properly installed irrigation system applies exactly the amount of water needed by your landscape, exactly when it’s needed; automating your existing underground sprinkler system can help ensure that this is happening.  With this done, you will never again have to worry about wasting water if you forget to turn off the manual valve or if it rains, and you won’t risk damaging your landscape if you forget a watering day or are out of town.

New System Installation

.

.

Our goal is to ensure that the process for installing a new irrigation system is a smooth and flawless experience. Therefore, our first focus here at Chris Irrigation is the coordination of our entire team – from consultation to installation to ultimately maintaining your system in the years to come – around the specific needs of our clients.

In order to achieve this, we have invested in specialized installation equipment that ensures the installation process goes efficiently and with as little landscape disruption as possible.

One of these pieces of specialized equipment that our installation team utilizes is a vibratory plow, or a line puller. Because this vibratory plow pulls the irrigation line underneath the sod, there is less mess, less damage to your grass, and fewer deep trenches to fill. The end result is that your yard will be back to normal in no time, your irrigation system up and running, and your yard will start to look amazing!
