Certified Back-flow Device Testing
Back-flow prevention devices prevent the flowing back of water from your irrigation system into the building or city water supply. This can pollute or contaminate the water in that system creating a health hazard.
Saskatoon requires that all testable back-flow prevention devices be tested annually to ensure proper operation and a report be sent to the city.
At Chris Irrigation Inc. we have certified technicians that can officially test all irrigation back-flow prevention devices to ensure they are working properly and send the necessary reports to both the city and the client.
Fall Winterization and Blowout
.
.
.
The Fall Blowout and Winterization offered through Chris Irrigation includes turning off the water at the irrigation system water source, setting your controller to a rest position, using a large commercial air compressor to purge water from the irrigation lines, valves and sprinkler heads, as well as draining any outdoor back-flow devices.
It is important to have this process done early enough in the year because it only takes a few degrees of cold weather to shatter your system.
Also, be aware that small, personal air compressors do not have the volume of air needed to properly blow out your system. So while blowing out your own system may seem like a good idea at the time, valves can still be left with some water in them, breaking one of the more expensive parts of your irrigation system. For peace of mind and warranty assurance, call the professionals at Chris Irrigation!
Spring Startup
.
.
Our custom Spring Start-up includes re-charging your system water, programming your controller, checking for leaks and damage, checking and adjusting each and every one of your sprinkler heads and zones, checking your automatic rain sensor, as well as making preliminary adjustments to your system based on plant growth or changes in your landscaping.
With your system fully inspected and running, you can be sure that your yard will be fully covered while minimizing any water wasted by hitting sidewalks and driveways. From this assessment, our technicians can also recommend to you any suggested sprinkler conversions and upgrades so you can begin saving money and water as soon as possible.

System Automation (with WiFi)
We can automate any previously existing manual system to provide exactly the amount of water needed by your landscape, exactly when it’s needed. With this done, you will never again have to worry about wasting water if you forget to turn off the manual valve or if it rains, and you won’t risk damaging your landscape if you forget a watering day or are out of town.
New System Installation
.
.
In order to achieve this, we have invested in the latest, cutting-edge installation equipment that ensures the installation process goes efficiently and with as little landscape disruption as possible.
One of these pieces of specialized equipment that our installation team utilizes is a track-based vibratory plow. Because this vibratory plow pulls the irrigation line underneath the sod, there is less mess, less damage to your grass, and fewer deep trenches to fill. The end result is that your yard will be back to normal in no time, your irrigation system up and running, and your yard will start to look amazing!
